May of last year we reported that Dom had announced that he was diagnosed with stage 3 pancreatic cancer and that he had a surgery scheduled for May 13th.  In September, he gave us an update on his situation, “After 6 of my 12 chemo treatments, my Dr’s did a CT scan and found there was no sign of cancer…I am cancer free!”.

Last month he announced he would be at NAMM and I (Paul Rogne) had to find time to meet with him.  His positivity and continual optimism are contagious and had to be his most valuable asset when fighting this disease.  This is a lesson to us all to embrace life, be kind, help one another, and to always remain positive even in the toughest of times.  He often posts inspirational messages, post NAMM he wrote this “It’s hard to find anything more infectious than enthusiasm. Enthusiasm is the antidote to negativity, the enemy of pessimism, and the destroyer of do-nothing indifference.”

Not only is he an amazing drummer, but his kindness seems to have no boundaries, he was at NAMM to promote his involvement with “The Sessions” – a non-profit to Enrich, Educate, and Empower. He hosed The Sessions sponsored panel titled “Remembering Jeff Beck”.

Dom is also involved with Can-Do Musos.  A Can-Do Muso is a musician with challenges who is very passionate about their music. We use the word “challenges” with Can-Do Musos because, quite often disability gets mis-interpreted as inability. People with challenges can overcome them and be empowered and successful.

Can-Do Musos was established to promote and support musicians who face “challenges” in their lives from all over the world.

In honor of Dom, please consider donating to these organization to help musicians.
