On February 5th Bobby and his partner Kari Wahlgren announce their beautiful baby boy.

This is a very emotional birth for Bobby out of remembrance of what was to be a joyous occasion, 30-years ago. More on that below.

Bobby who is over the moon about his son has posted the following update on his website.

2-5-23: Our little man has arrived! He is healthy and thriving, and momma Kari Wahlgren is recovering nicely—even after those 18 hours of labor and nearly 4 hours of hard pushing! Sleep has been at a premium lately, of course, but we don’t care. We are both over the moon about our new addition.

It has been an exceedingly emotional time for me. I get choked up over my little man at least once a day. Perhaps it’s a deeper sense of wonder, sentiment, and appreciation that accompanies my older age. Perhaps it’s a taste of resolution to the profound pain of loss I’ve endured through these past three decades. Maybe both. But I’m already telling my boy that he has a “sensitive” papa. Hopefully, I won’t embarrass him too much in the years ahead!

In Bobby’s newsletter he alludes to a devastating incident that happened in 1993. Bobby writes “As some of you may recall, I was all set to be a father 30 years ago back in ’93. It was another case of the unexpected, but my girl at the time, Sherri (Foreman), and I were set to welcome our little boy on a September due date. But then, some horrible s#@t happened and, in a moment, they were both gone forever.

I did my best to recover and carry on… at least as much as one can ever recover from something like that. And, in honor of Sherri, our unborn son, and the magnitude of the whole thing, I have finally written about it all, in excruciating detail, in my next memoir. But for now, just know this:

The day we found out Sherri was pregnant was January 25, 1993.

The day Kari and I brought our son home from the hospital was January 25, 2023: exactly, to the day, thirty years later.

On March 31st 1993 Bobby’s girlfriend Sherri Foreman, pregnant with their first child, was stabbed to death in a carjacking. In an excerpt from an April 2, 1993 Los Angeles Daily News article they describe the incident:  “Unconscious from wounds she suffered at the hands of a would-be carjacker in the parking lot of a suburban Sherman Oaks bank, aspiring rock musician Sherri Foreman held on for more than 24 hours before she died in surgery.

Foreman’s fiance – Bobby Rock, a drummer for the band Nelson – her family from Orange County, Calif., and her music industry friends struggled Thursday to make sense of her death. A reward was offered Thursday night for information leading to the arrest of the killer of the 29-year-old suburban Toluca Lake woman. Foreman, who was 12 weeks pregnant, collapsed on the sidewalk following the attack at 8:55 p.m. Tuesday, police said.

She had just taken money from an automated teller when she was approached by a man who tried to take her car, police said. The robber stabbed her during the confrontation, stole her purse and fled on foot, without taking her white 1984 BMW 318i parked in the Great Western Bank lot at Riverside Drive and Woodman Avenue, police said.

Foreman died at 10:41 p.m. Wednesday in surgery at Northridge Hospital Medical Center, authorities said. Her fetus had been pronounced dead Tuesday night.

Bobby was playing for Nelson at the time, both he and Sherri were 29, in addition to expecting their baby boy Sherri was excited about her acting career.

The birth of Bobby’s baby is truly a wonderful event, Drumming News Networks wishes all of you the happiest of life together, congratulations Bobby and Kari!
