“This Questlove Supreme Ep means the world to me. To have a one on one FIRST CONVERSATION (in depth) with the human who I idolized before anyone in music. THIS episode of Soul Train not only hooked me to Soul Train as a religion but also to Steve Ferrone as the drummer who led me to drumming. Knowing this he gifted me this very black/white Gretch snare from this show on my first day of “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” – the pristine *pop* of that snare man…..wow almost 50 years old and still hits! Briefly met him at the WH at the turn of the millennium Jan31 1999 when we were both playing. He came to one of the D’Angelo shows on the Voodoo Tour ——but we never got in depth. There was the Questlove Supreme Ep we were gonna do on the day the world shut down (March 16 2020) but the apocalypse was a callin’ & of course I was all amped to see him at msg w Mayer and then he got covid so uh…..instead I had to learn all these songs not to mention, I was in my zone so for them to startle me like that and fill in, The night was legendary but damn. To have so many close but no cigar moments w your idol lol….. We late with the animation—so instead I’m using clips.
