DOOR’s drummer John Densmore release new book

On November 17th John Densmore formally of the legendary band “The Doors “released his new book titled “The Seekers: Meetings With Remarkable Musicians (And Other Artists)”.  These days John is more of a writer having authored two. Best-selling books “Raiders On The Storm” and “The Doors Unhinged”.

John started this book some time ago, it ties together stories from his personal notebooks and experiences over the past fifty years.  In addition to laying out what it was like to be a musician in the 60’s John recalls wild times with fellow stars including Janis Joplin and Willie Nelson.

“At a party in Los Angeles around the time Jim [Morrison] was well on his way to becoming an alcoholic, he pulled on Janis’ hair and she responded by cracking a bottle of Southern Comfort over his head,” Densmore recalls in one chapter. He adds, “They couldn’t help themselves. Living life with total abandon was their mantra.”

Densmore also recalls hanging out with Willie Nelson, recounting that the country singer was also a backstage comic. His material apparently included: “What’s a guitar player without his instrument? Homeless!”

This proves to be an interesting book for any fan of rock history and the Doors.
