“More groove than a dirt road”, if you only had six words to describe drummer Lyle Molzan, those are as
good as any.
Classically trained from the age of 3 on the violin, Lyle developed a sensitive ear early on in life that would allow him to become the dynamic player and musician’s drummer that he is today. Formal jazz studies in college, along with a busy recording and performance schedule further deepened his musical knowledge, giving Lyle a reputation for astounding technique and versatility in all genres.
This versatility is clearly reflected in Lyle’s career. Besides the countless sessions for national television, film and radio ads, he has performed and recorded with artists such as: Dean Brody, Corb Lund, Jann Arden (he appears on 3 gold and one multi-platinum album), David Wilcox, Supertramp’s Roger Hodgson, Tom Cochrane, Ron Sexsmith, Alice Cooper, and the one and only Olivia Newton John, to name but a few.
TV appearances include David Letterman and Jimmy Fallon with Kathleen Edwards, numerous CCMA shows and others.
Lyle is a musician’s drummer. Everyone who plays with him gets hooked onto that deep groove. They also get hooked on a profoundly sensitive drummer that provides both support and leadership in any musical setting.
