Drumming News :
Rogers Drums is bringing a piece of its celebrated history into the modern era with the introduction of the new Dayton Series, a handcrafted, American-made drum line inspired by the company’s iconic late-1960s Dayton drums. Combining vintage Rogers styling with contemporary shell construction and hardware design, the new series aims to deliver the character, versatility, and performance today’s drummers demand.
Handcrafted in the USA, the Dayton Series features 8-ply maple and cherry hybrid shells across its toms and bass drums. This combination brings together maple’s familiar warmth, punch, and balanced response with cherry’s distinctive richness, attack, and tonal character. The result is a drum kit designed to respond beautifully at lighter playing dynamics while offering plenty of projection and power when pushed harder.
Each shell also features Rogers’ signature dark internal fruitwood stain, adding another distinctive touch to the series’ traditional craftsmanship and visual identity.

Vintage Rogers Styling with Modern Performance
One of the defining characteristics of the Dayton Series is its attention to classic Rogers design. Traditional Beavertail lugs, bowtie tension rods, double-hoop claws, and triple-flanged hoops give the drums an unmistakable vintage appearance.
However, Rogers has incorporated modern engineering to ensure the drums are ready for today’s playing environments. The hinged tom brackets feature vibration-reducing shell risers designed to minimize direct metal-to-shell contact, allowing the shells to resonate naturally. Memory locks provide consistent positioning, while the included mounting hardware offers practical convenience for setup and transport.
The bass drums feature natural wood hoops with matching inlays and folding spurs, completing the classic aesthetic while providing dependable stability.
Shell Construction and Configurations
The 8-ply maple/cherry hybrid shell construction is at the heart of the Dayton Series. Designed to provide a wide tuning range, clear attack, and musical sustain, the shells are intended to deliver a versatile sound suitable for a variety of musical styles.
Select snare drum models will also be available with 10-ply shell construction, offering additional options for players looking to complement their Dayton kits.
Rogers plans to offer the series in several three-piece shell pack configurations, including popular sizes such as 20-inch bass drum, 12-inch tom, and 14-inch floor tom, as well as a 22-inch bass drum configuration with 13-inch and 16-inch toms. Individual add-on drums will also be available, allowing players to expand their setups.
Finishes and Pricing
The Dayton Series will be offered in an assortment of classic-inspired wrap and lacquer finishes, giving players several ways to personalize their kits. Available finish options include:

- Satin Walnut
- Ginger Glass
- Black Glass
- Sky Blue Ripple
- Red Diamond Pearl
Core shell pack pricing is expected to range from approximately $2,199 to $2,699, depending on configuration and finish.
A Classic Rogers Legacy, Reimagined
With the Dayton Series, Rogers is revisiting an important chapter in its history while bringing fresh craftsmanship and modern performance considerations to the design. The combination of maple and cherry shells, traditional hardware, distinctive finishes, and American manufacturing gives the series a clear connection to the company’s heritage.
For drummers who appreciate the look and feel of vintage Rogers drums but want the consistency and reliability of a newly manufactured instrument, the Dayton Series offers an interesting new addition to the American-made drum market.
