The Daily News reports: Travis Barker is getting ready to return to the wild blue yonder.
The drummer of Blink-182 fame was last in the air 13 years ago when he survived a plane crash that killed four other people including Barker’s security guard Charles “Che” Still, his assistant, Chris Baker, and pilots Sarah Lemmon and James Bland.
He has not flown since.
In a tweet from June 25th, Barker, 45, shared his openness to returning to the skies once again.
“I might fly again,” Barker wrote along with an airplane emoji.
Following the devastating crash, Barker suffered from both mental and physical wounds. Along with sustaining third degree burns on 65 percent of his body that required multiple skin grafts and other surgeries, Barker also had to overcome “excessive” marijuana and prescription drug use.
In May, Barker told Men’s Health that he flushed all his drugs down the toilet “including stuff that I really needed,” after his longtime friend Adam Goldstein, who also survived the plane crash, passed away in 2009 due to a drug overdose.
Barker also spoke about the PTSD he suffered when seeing a plane in the air.
“I couldn’t walk down the street. If I saw a plane [in the sky], I was determined it was going to crash, and I just didn’t want to see it,” he said. “The closer I was to it, it felt like I was closer to the bad stuff than I am to the good stuff. I felt closer to the experience of trying to escape, [to] being in an accident and being burned, trying to grab my friends from a burning plane.”
