Paulie Carrizzo (5/20/52-3/16/22), Todd Sucherman’s Drum Tech For 20-Years Has Passed Away

Latest Drum News

Todd Sucherman took to social media to announce the passing of his long-time drum tech Paulie Carrizzo.

Paulie Carrizzo passed away today, March 16th. We spent twenty years together as a team and we are all devastated to lose this American original. They broke the proverbial mold when he was born. A museum of knowledge, stories, love and friendship was he— and there are no words to expresses my personal sadness, or that of the entire Styx organization. We were so fortunate to have had him light up our lives in his special way for two decades. Our deepest condolences to dear Maxine, and his entire extended family. We share your grief, and we loved him so.

On February 11th Todd celebrated his long-term relationship with Paulie on Facebook with this post:

Twenty years! Paulie Carrizzo came into the Styx camp on February 11th, 2002. For twenty years I have been one of the luckiest drummers who ever lived to have someone like him watching over me, and our drums. Other that Larry Mullen Jr from U2 who’s had Sam O’Sullivan since the beginning, I’m not sure I have ever heard of a drummer and a tech riding out twenty consecutive years (or more) together. Thank you, dear friend! Happy anniversary!

Styx website writes:

“Paul “Paulie” Carrizzo, Todd Sucherman’s longtime drum tech, peacefully passed away earlier today on March 16, 2022, at age 68. He would have celebrated his 69th birthday on May 20.

Paulie spent 20 full years working with Todd and Styx day in and day out, and was one of the most loyal, most knowledgeable, friendliest, and longest-serving drum techs in the music business.”
