We are currently looking for a Product Specialist to oversee our Percussion Business Unit and join our growing, progressive, and collaborative work environment. This position would be a hybrid role and require the candidate to work on-site in the Farmingdale, Long island headquarters office approximately 2 days per week. The Product Specialist is responsible for supporting the product and business initiatives for the assigned instrument category. This includes all D’Addario Percussion Brands: Evans Drumheads & Accessories, ProMark, & Evans Hybrid. The position reports to and takes strategic direction from the Business Unit Product Manager and is responsible for increasing the demand for products through the following (but not limited to) activities; product research and development, product presentation and maintenance, competitive analysis and research, consumer and trade marketing, sales tools and interaction, educator outreach, artist and consumer support,  and more.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Product Managers (PM) with the development and launch of new products, including; project scope, testing, validation, item setup, packaging, operations coordination, communications, etc.
  • Develop, coordinate and maintain brand/product and marketing assets, including; photography, product data, marketing copy, price lists, training materials/fact sheets, video/multimedia content, printed materials, show visuals, POP, press release info, etc.
  • Assist with various business planning and analysis, including; media calendars, product sales and sell-through reports, margin analysis, competitive and market analysis, budgets/spending, etc.
  • Plan, assist with and attend consumer/trade events; booth logistics/activity, orders, travel, reports
  • Assist with sales department communications and activities, including; B2B promotions, business unit meetings, training materials/presentations, and planned customer/retailer travel.
  • Assist consumer engagement via blogs, social marketing, forums, consumer inquiries, etc.
  • Facilitate the efficient flow of information and clear, inclusive communications between key departments (sales, R&D, finance, operations, artist relations, marketing, finance, etc.).
  • Engage QC department to assist with rectifying issues, advising or answering questions
  • Assist in coordination of artist activity, as needed, including; clinics, factory visits, photo shoots, etc.
  • Assist with educator relations and education market outreach, as directed
  • Identify opportunities and apply LEAN office/manufacturing principles for continuous improvement
  • Manage brand specific or specialty tasks or projects as directed by PM
  • Hybrid working environment. Must report to NY Farmingdale Office on Tuesday/Thursday, travel ~20% 

Qualifications

  • Passionate Percussionist
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, music business or music education
  • 3+ years of marketing or general business experience.
  • Experience with the musical instrument or instrument accessory market (gear head is a plus)
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Confident interpersonal skills
  • Ability to organize projects and manage timelines with a strong attention to detail

The base salary range for this role would be commensurate with experience: $65k-$80k per year.
