The Articulation of Ash

The 8th entry into the venerable STAR Reserve series, this Stave Ash snare features a 14”x6.5” shell constructed using 20, 10mm-thick Ash staves. Stave-style drums afford a faster response and deeper tone overall. The Ash material also provides additional brightness and sensitivity, making this particular snare remarkably agile and articulate.

This 14″x6.5″ Stave Ash shell is the newest edition to the STAR Reserve series. Characterized by its brightness and sensitivity, Ash wood has a wide tonal range. Similar to a conga drum, 20 pieces of 10mm thick Ash wood staves are used to form this unique shell, delivering a quicker response and deeper tone than that of a ply or solid shell drum.

2.3mm Sound Arc Hoop

The 2.3mm Sound Arc Hoop is bent inward, providing a tight sound with mellow sustain. In combination with the solid and powerful sound of the stave Ash shell, the Sound Arc Hoop delivers an elegant and focused sound to the STAR Reserve series.

Super Sensitive Hi-Carbon Snare Wire

In order to provide a crisper and more sensitive sound, we redesigned our snappy snare using new materials and customizing the shape of the plate and the wire coil’s winding pattern. As a result of these modifications, the Super Sensitive Hi-Carbon Snappy Snare fits closer to the snare side head, providing greater sensitivity and a brighter, crisper sound.

10mm, 20pcs Stave Ash Shell

With a similar manufacturing process as a conga drum, 20 pieces of 10mm thick Ash wood staves are used to form this unique shell, delivering a quicker response and deeper tone than that of a ply or solid shell drum.

Because of its relatively heavy weight, Ash produces a brightness like maple and crispness like birch, resulting in a beautiful sounding drum in a variety of tunings.

Using TAMA’s Super Sensitive Hi-Carbon Snare Wires, we are able to achieve an extremely sensitive, bright, and crisp sound. These characteristics allow the player to freely express themselves.

Together, the high-quality sound and intricate Ash wood grain creates an incomparable experience that will resonate with players and audiences alike.
