2021 will soon be a distant memory. In addition to the health context, this checkered year has gone by like lightning, with its share of surprises and events (the reformation of Toto with Robert “Sput” Searight, the new Gojira, the return of the Bag’Show, the Prince’s posthumous album with Chris Coleman …), and tragedies (the disappearance of Joey Jordison and Charlie Watts in the lead). For this last issue of the year, our testers have gone out of their way to put together a “special Christmas” shopping dossier to give your loved ones a little inspiration a few days before the holidays. Our team also went to meet Gavin Harrison (Porcupine Tree, King Crimson, The Pineapple Thief), a sensitive intellectual whose drumming and career still have many surprises in store for us. The Englishman gave us a fascinating and uncompromising interview on his vision of the instrument, his relationship to business and money, scratching in the process certain facets of the profession (the drum clinics, the session man job). A discussion also marked by the expression of boundless devotion to his art. Gavin will even be taken with a rare giggle when describing this almost carnal relationship he has with the drums … We cannot help drawing a parallel with Jimi Hendrix who admitted to sleeping with his guitar … Without no doubt our best interview with the artist in 17 years.
