Tech Bros Race for a Spot as Max Weinberg Sells $13M Ocean Ridge Land

Drumming News :

E Street Band drummer Max Weinberg and his wife, Rebbecca, have quietly sold one of Ocean Ridge’s largest remaining Intracoastal land assemblages for $13 million, as tech billionaires and other deep-pocketed buyers race to secure scarce waterfront property in Palm Beach County.

The adjoining parcels at 7 and 9 Sabal Island Drive span more than 33,000 square feet with roughly 325 feet of waterfront. The site includes deep-water dockage, a recently rebuilt seawall and quick access to the Atlantic through the Boynton Inlet.

The property never hit the open market, according to a source. A buyer stumbled onto the listing and snapped it up within days. The buyer has not been identified.

Nick Malinosky and Michael O’Connor of Douglas Elliman’s Exclusive Group represented both sides and declined to comment.

For Weinberg, 75, real estate has long been a second act. The New Jersey native has bought, built and flipped dozens of homes and serves on the Planning and Zoning Board in nearby Delray Beach.

He has also been Springsteen’s drummer since 1974 and later became Conan O’Brien’s bandleader on “Late Night” and “The Tonight Show.”

The sale highlights a broader Palm Beach County land rush, where tech executives, billionaires and celebrities are competing for the last large waterfront parcels. Average waterfront listings now top $10.8 million, according to LandSearch data, making buildable Intracoastal land especially valuable.

Nearby, names including Oracle co-founder Larry Ellison and WeatherTech founder David MacNeil have joined the growing roster of wealthy buyers drawn to the region.

In Ocean Ridge, where large stretches of contiguous waterfront rarely come available, the message is increasingly simple: when a prime piece of land surfaces, buyers move fast.
