Queen drummer Roger Taylor has released “I See You Now,” the second single from his upcoming seventh solo album, Violence Insane in a Beautiful World, due Sept. 18 via Columbia Records.
The intimate love song was inspired by Taylor’s wife, Sarina, and reflects how couples develop a deeper understanding of one another over time.
“It’s a love song, it’s really about my wife,” Taylor told BBC Radio 2. “When you really get to know someone… it’s ‘Oh, I see you now.’”
Sarina Taylor and longtime collaborator Simon Lupton created the song’s black-and-white music video, featuring Taylor’s distinctive red high-top sneakers.
The album follows 2021’s Outsider and includes 10 tracks, including Taylor’s cover of John Lennon’s “Jealous Guy.” Its title reflects his concerns about the contrast between the beauty of the world and the violence happening within it.
Taylor will support the album with a six-date U.K. tour beginning Sept. 21 in Newcastle, with stops in Edinburgh, Birmingham, Manchester, London and Swansea. Meanwhile, Taylor has indicated that Queen’s story is not over, saying last year, “I don’t think we’re done.”
