Drumming News :
Welcome to Issue #8 of the Drumming News Network newsletter for 2026.
This issue brings an exciting announcement: we’ll be exhibiting at this year’s Chicago Drum Show. In partnership with Donn Bennett’s Drum Vault, our booth will feature a truly special piece of drumming history—Carmine Appice’s iconic drum set, made famous from the cover of Realistic Rock and his time with Rod Stewart. This legendary kit hasn’t been publicly displayed in over 15 years, and attendees will have a rare chance to step behind it for a photo before it returns to a private collection.
We also take a moment to honor the passing of Craig Krampf, a remarkable drummer, songwriter, and producer whose work helped shape countless hit records over the decades.
In industry news, we highlight inspiring innovation and resilience through the story of Andrew Tkaczyk. After losing his leg in a tour bus accident, he returned to playing with the help of a custom-designed pedal developed by his father in collaboration with Pearl Drums—proving that determination and creativity can overcome even the toughest setbacks.
You’ll also find updates on the closure of PlayDrums.com / Percussive Marketing Council, along with the latest on new gigs, releases, lessons, and standout stories featuring Stewart Copeland, Mike Mangini, and Steve Gorman.
Finally, be sure to explore our updated Calendar section, packed with clinics, events, and opportunities to stay inspired and connected within the drumming community.
All that and much more awaits in this issue—thank you for reading and for being the most important part of the drumming community.
