COHEED AND CAMBRIA’s Josh Eppard Launches Mental Health Collaboration with HeartSupport

Drumming News :

Josh Eppard, drummer for progressive rock powerhouse COHEED AND CAMBRIA, has announced a powerful new partnership between his mental health initiative Drum Set Confessional and the nonprofit HeartSupport, a leading voice in mental health advocacy within the heavy music scene.

The collaboration aims to bring Eppard’s deeply personal story of recovery and resilience to a broader audience—especially within the community of heavy music fans who often face similar struggles.

Born from Adversity, Built to Uplift

Drum Set Confessional was created by Eppard after years of battling deadly substance addiction. The platform allows him to share his journey openly, not just with fans, but with at-risk groups including students, therapists, and educators. His goal is to help others feel less alone and more empowered to seek support.

The new collaboration will enable Drum Set Confessional’s message to reach even farther through HeartSupport’s trusted network and peer-based mental health services.

“We’re usually in awe of HeartSupport,” Eppard said. “Like, ‘Wow, look what’s possible.’ While they lead the way, it’s our honor to use them as aspirational and inspirational. We know HeartSupport can help us to better our organization.”

Uniting Music and Mental Health

HeartSupport was founded by Jake Luhrs, the frontman of Grammy-nominated metalcore band AUGUST BURNS RED. The nonprofit provides mental health tools and community support tailored to the heavy music scene—including direct peer support via online responses and scheduled Support Calls.

Now, when fans hear Eppard’s story, they’ll also be introduced to HeartSupport’s services—including free peer-to-peer support available 24/7.

“We all intertwine,” Eppard said. “The marriage with HeartSupport just feels so right to us. I’m just so happy that they’ll have us. I sense a lot of good people doing the work so well and leading the way for other bands and organizations to pop up.”

Expanding the Reach of Support

HeartSupport, known for its presence both online and at major music festivals, will help Drum Set Confessional meet fans where they are—whether in concert venues or digital spaces.

“We are so incredibly grateful to partner with Josh Eppard and Drum Set Confessional to deepen our impact on the scene and help more fans,” HeartSupport said in a statement.
