Legendary Canadian rock band RUSH and fans have helped raise the full $1 million needed for a memorial honoring late drummer and lyricist Neil Peart at Lakeside Park in St. Catharines, Ontario.
RUSH members Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson recently presented a $785,000 check to the Neil Peart Memorial Working Group and city staff. The donation came from proceeds and VIP packages from the band’s “Fifty Something” tour. Lee previously donated $1 from every ticket sold during his 2023 “My Effin’ Life” book tour to the project.
The fundraising campaign officially ends October 15, 2026. Fans can still donate and purchase limited commemorative panels featuring engraved personal tributes to Peart.
The planned memorial, designed by Morgan MacDonald of Newfoundland Bronze Foundry, will feature two bronze statues of Peart: one depicting him as a young musician holding a book and drumsticks, and another showing him in his later years with a snare drum.
The memorial is expected to open in late 2027, creating a permanent tribute to Peart and his deep connection to St. Catharines and Lakeside Park, immortalized in RUSH’s music.
