Drumming News :
Meinl Cymbals has announced the launch of two new Artist Design cymbal models created in collaboration with acclaimed drummer Anika Nilles: the 22″ Lunar Ride and 14″ Lunar Hats. The new cymbals make their live debut as Nilles joins Rush on the band’s highly anticipated Fifty Something world tour, which kicks off tonight in Los Angeles.
Developed over several months through close collaboration between Nilles and Meinl’s R&D team, both cymbals were engineered to meet the specific sonic demands of arena-sized performances while maintaining a warm, deeply musical character. Each model also features Anika’s original artwork engraved directly onto the bronze surface, giving the cymbals a distinctive visual identity.
The 22″ Lunar Ride is an extra-heavy cymbal featuring a massive bell designed to cut through even the densest arena mixes while retaining rich musicality and clarity. Complementing the ride, the 14″ Lunar Hats are heavyweight powerhouse hi-hats that deliver maximum projection and a crisp, energetic “chick” sound, making them ideal for high-impact live performances.

Designed to integrate seamlessly into Rush’s live sound while reflecting Nilles’ unique musical voice, the Lunar Ride and Lunar Hats are expected to become standout elements of her touring setup throughout the world tour.
The new Meinl Artist Design cymbals will be available in music stores worldwide beginning in September 2026.
