SABIAN is proud to announce the release of the 21″ AA MantaRay Chinese, a distinctive new signature accent cymbal developed in collaboration with Ray Luzier of Korn.
Created through an extensive year-long collaboration, the MantaRay began with Luzier’s idea for an accent cymbal that could deliver the explosive attack of a China while getting out of the way quickly—cutting through a powerful mix without leaving behind the harsh, lingering wash.
Its unique asymmetric 21″ profile produces a bold, lower-pitched attack with trashy character, powerful projection and an immediate, controlled decay. The result is a musical and articulate accent voice that sits naturally alongside the rest of the kit, whether on stage or in the studio. Its unmistakable MantaRay shape makes the cymbal as visually striking as it is sonically distinctive.
“Its been a pleasure working with Ray for the last 25 years. I’m so proud to have seen him rise from small club gigs in LA to stadiums around the world.
