Danny Carey, drummer for Tool, is currently making waves with BEAT, his new project alongside Adrian Belew, Tony Levin, and Steve Vai. The band reinterprets King Crimson’s 1980s albums Discipline, Beat, and Three of a Perfect Pair, bringing fresh life to these iconic tracks.
Looking ahead to 2025, Carey is filled with excitement about the upcoming release of Beat Live, a concert album and film capturing the energy of BEAT’s electrifying performances. Due out on September 26, the release includes renditions of King Crimson classics like “Heartbeat,” “Red,” and “Sleepless.”
Carey shared: “The Beat Live release is something we’ve all been waiting for. The response from the audience has been incredible, and I’m proud of how it turned out.”
The culmination of BEAT’s 2025 journey will be a record-release concert at the legendary Budokan in Tokyo on September 1. Carey reflects on the significance of the event: “Performing at Budokan is a dream come true. It’s a place with so much history, and I can’t wait to feel that magic again with this amazing group of musicians.”
As the band continues to push creative boundaries, 2025 is shaping up to be a milestone year for BEAT.
