Below is an excerpt from a San Francisco Chronicle article that was posted on July 30th, below is a link to the original story.

A popular Bay Area musician who has performed at Fisherman’s Wharf in San Francisco for 15 years said his van and musical equipment were stolen last week from his Antioch home, affecting his ability to make a living.

Les Edwins said his white van containing about $10,000 worth of musical equipment and other personal items was stolen from his driveway just before 3:30 a.m. Thursday. Stolen items included his drum set, the seat throne, stands, a kick pedal, a computer, speakers, microphones, cables, a mixer and a generator, he said.

“Everything that I own, that I work with, is in that van,” Edwins, 63, told The Chronicle on Sunday morning.

“It just makes me sick to the stomach even visualizing the things that are gone, that I’ve worked hard to get,” he added.

Left feeling “devastated” from the van theft and no longer being able to work, Edwins started a GoFundMe campaign to buy another vehicle and drum set to continue to work. As of Monday night, he had raised more than $16,500, including $2,000 from one anonymous donor. Edwins said he also filed a report with the Antioch Police Department.

Edwins started performing at Fisherman’s Wharf and at private parties 15 years ago after he was severely injured in a car accident that prevented him from traveling with his brothers, who played together in a band called Movin, he said.

He has frequently appeared in videos on YouTube playing his drums and singing covers of songs as passersby record on their phones and others dance along.

“I make a lot of people happy with my shows” at Fisherman’s Wharf, he wrote on the GoFundMe page.
