Wincent Drumsticks Welcomes Independent Artist Sam Notman To Their Artist Family

Sam Notman is a professional drummer and percussionist currently based out of Wellington, New Zealand. He has been playing drums since the age of 10, sharing and gaining this passion and career from his father. 

After graduating in 2016 with a Bachelor of Applied Arts majoring in Music Sam has had the privilege of working with a host of amazing artists within the New Zealand music industry. He is currently the drummer for pop artists AACACIA and Riiki Reid, singer/ songwriter Arjuna Oakes, rapper and producer Name UL, synth-pop band Onono, Jazz/electronic artist Wallace and many more. Sam’s drumming styles and skills allow him to work within a wide variety of genres, but he feels most at home laying down Hiphop and RnB flavours.

As well as playing live he also spends lots of time in the recording studio. An album he is particularly proud of is a live gospel album called Mōhau’ which features artists – Troy Kingi, Ria Hall, Rob Ruha, Bella Kalolo and Majic. ‘Mōhau’ won two Aotearoa Music Awards in 2020. 

He has embarked on many tours with bands both in New Zealand and internationally, including recently in Europe. 

Sam continues to play live and record as well as teaching regular students. He looks forward to working on many more projects as well as growing his craft and building his platform to share his passion of music and fun.
