ZZ Top Expands Elevation Tour with New Dates Following Frank Beard’s Return

Drumming News :

ZZ Top’s Elevation Tour is hitting new heights with a fresh wave of concert dates announced following drummer Frank Beard’s return to the stage. Beard, who had been sidelined earlier this year due to a foot and ankle injury, officially rejoined the tour in early June.

While Beard recuperated, longtime drum tech John Douglas stepped in behind the kit. A veteran with nearly 30 years of experience, Douglas has worked with legends like Frank Beard himself, Joey Kramer, and Alex Van Halen. Most recently, Douglas filled in for Kramer on Aerosmith’s farewell tour before briefly joining ZZ Top.

Now back at full strength, the iconic Texas trio has tacked on more than a dozen shows to their fall schedule. New dates begin with a September 5 concert at the River Spirit Casino Resort in Tulsa, Oklahoma, followed by a series of previously announced performances. The next newly added stop is September 14 at the Hollywood Casino in Charles Town, West Virginia.

Fans can also catch the group—immortalized in their Grammy-nominated documentary That Little Ol’ Band from Texas—at the American Music Theatre in Lancaster, Pennsylvania on September 15. After another run of shows, the band will ring in Halloween with a special October 31 concert at Las Vegas’ Palms Casino Resort Pearl Concert Theater.

The California leg of the Elevation Tour kicks off November 2 at the Viejas Casino & Resort in Alpine, followed by a November 4 performance at the Santa Barbara Bowl. The tour will wrap up on November 7 with a show at Agua Caliente Rancho Mirage.

Reflecting on the tour and its momentum, frontman Billy Gibbons shared, “This has been a great tour so we figured it would be a good idea to add some additional dates to keep the good times rolling. Come on out and see us at a concert venue near you.”

With the band firing on all cylinders once again, ZZ Top fans across the country can look forward to a high-octane finish to the Elevation Tour.
