Revered for its unmistakable tone and vintage character, the Radio King name returns in a form that honors its legacy while embracing the needs of today’s players.
Handcrafted in Oxnard, California, this latest iteration reflects a meticulous commitment to detail. At its core lies the signature 3-ply shell construction, using a Mahogany–Poplar–Mahogany formula. Reinforced with steam-bent maple rings and shaped with a 30-degree rounded bearing edge, the shells are engineered to deliver a playing experience that is both responsive and expressive. Drummers immediately notice the “buttery” feel under the sticks, paired with a punchy attack, warm tonal body, and a lush, resonant sustain that defines the classic Slingerland sound.
The Radio King Outfit is configured as a versatile three-piece setup, featuring a 9×13-inch tom, a 16×16-inch floor tom, and a 14×22-inch bass drum. This arrangement provides a balanced voice suitable for a wide range of musical styles, from vintage-inspired sessions to contemporary live performances.
Aesthetically, the kit stays true to its roots while introducing fresh visual appeal. Newly available Gold Glass and Maroon Glass finishes join a broader lineup that includes Black Diamond Pearl, White Marine Pearl, Gold and Black lacquer, and Blue and Silver lacquer.
