Pearl Jam made a surprise appearance during Eddie Vedder’s solo set at the Ohana Festival in Dana Point, Calif., on Sept. 25, marking the band’s first performance since drummer Matt Cameron left in July.
The band introduced longtime Paul McCartney drummer Abe Laboriel Jr. behind the kit, though he has not been officially announced as Cameron’s permanent replacement. Laboriel previously worked with Vedder on his 2022 solo album Earthling.
After beginning his set acoustically, Vedder switched to electric guitar and launched into “Corduroy,” prompting the rest of Pearl Jam to take the stage. The 16-song set included favorites such as “Even Flow,” “Better Man” and “Porch,” along with songs from Dark Matter, a Dead Boys cover and a closing performance of The Who’s “Baba O’Riley.”
