Drumming News :
The Slingerland Drum Company launches the Limited-Edition Gene Krupa Radio King Snare Drum, as the iconic brand continues its rebirth.
Considered the first superstar of the drum set, Gene Krupa endorsed Slingerland Drums for his whole career and became nearly synonymous with the brand. He is celebrated the world over as an innovative soloist, who played fast and hit hard. Widely regarded as one of the most significant drummers in the history of popular music, Krupa influenced the playing of Buddy Rich, John Bonham, Bill Ward, Keith Moon, Ian Paice, Carl Palmer, and many more.

The Limited-Edition Gene Krupa Radio King Snare Drum is built to a historically authentic design, with a steam-bent, solid North American maple shell, handcrafted at the Craviotto Music City Workshop. The 6.5” x 14” shell is cut with the original 30-degree rounded bearing edge and has a rich, deep, warm tone. It is finished with period-correct nickel-plated hardware featuring the vintage 3-Point Strainer for precise snare wire control, and Nickel-over-Brass Stick Chopper hoops engraved with the Radio King logo. This snare is available in one color and one size only.
Only 200 Limited Edition Gene Krupa Radio King Snare Drums will be made. Each of the numbered drums will be shipped with a premium calfskin batter head, a custom Radio King-branded case, a certificate of authenticity signed by DW founder Don Lombardi, and a special Gene Krupa postcard.
The collectible Limited-Edition Gene Krupa Radio King Snare Drum honors the legendary drummer who put drums on the map.
