Drumming News :
Former Slipknot drummer Jay Weinberg is set to release his debut solo album, marking a new chapter in his career following his sudden departure from the band in 2023.
Weinberg, who played with Slipknot for a decade, shared on the Podioslave podcast that he’s been working on the project for years and plans to start releasing songs later this year. Though he played all instruments, produced, and wrote the material, Weinberg says the album is far from a typical solo effort — it features collaborations with multiple vocalists he’s long admired.
“This is something I’ve always wanted to do,” he said. “Life gets in the way, but this was the right time to finally make it happen.”
He’ll debut some of the new music live in August at the Field of Vision Festival in Colorado, through a collaboration with visual artist Argus.
Weinberg says the album explores sonic territory influenced by bands like Neurosis, Interpol, and My Bloody Valentine — a clear shift from his Slipknot sound.
“It’s music I’ve always wanted to dive into,” he added. “I’m really excited to finally share it.”
