About George Lawrence:
George Lawrence, a seasoned drummer from Jackson, Mississippi, has performed and recorded across Los Angeles, Nashville, and Muscle Shoals with top artists worldwide. Known for his “deep pocket groove,” he earned a reputation in the ’90s as one of Nashville’s go-to sub drummers, later joining country-rock pioneers POCO as a full-time member in 2004. Based in Nashville, George is an in-demand session player, educator, and owner of Not So Modern Drummermagazine, which also produces the annual Nashville Drum Show.
A versatile musician, George has played everything from funk and jazz to country and rock, and has taught thousands of students—including world-renowned drummer Keith Carlock. He also co-founded the Famous Drum Company and formerly ran George’s Drum Shop. Passionate about community, George remains active as a performer, clinician, and mentor in the national drumming scene.
