Drumming News
To better cover fast-moving developments in the e-drum community, global electronic percussion publication digitalDrummer has announced that it will transition from a quarterly e-magazine to an online blog and e-newsletter. The May 2025 edition, the 62nd issue since digitalDrummer was founded in 2010, will be the last in the magazine format, according to founder and editor Allan Leibowitz.
“A lot has changed since we started a decade and a half ago,” Allan explains. “Today, in an environment dominated by TikTok, Instagram, Youtube and other social media platforms, readers expect shorter, sharper news that’s more targeted, more accessible and more immediate.”
“However, one thing that hasn’t changed is our commitment to reporting on innovation and new products, to interviewing industry leaders and pro drummers at the top of their game and to continuing to thoroughly and independently review instruments, software and gear in the electronic drumming world,” he stresses.

Over the years, the digitalDrummer built a significant reputation for its uncompromising editorial stance which has become widely respected by readers, manufacturers and drum retailers around the world. More recently, the publication began augmenting its quarterly magazines with more frequent online reports and newsletters. This approach will be expanded under the new plan with stories published as they occur on the digitalDrummer website and excerpts compiled in a newsletter once a month.
“We’re still committed to bringing our audience the latest e-drum news, reviews, interviews and advice. In fact, we will now be able to spend more time researching and sharing our articles and less time producing and distributing them,” the editor adds.
The digitaldrummermag.com website currently contains all 62 past issues of the magazine along with thousands of articles ranging from news and analysis to reviews and artist tips. This content will remain accessible on the site as new content is added to the easily searchable library of e-drum knowledge.
digitalDrummer was founded in 2010, when award-winning journalist and amateur drummer Allan Leibowitz was unable to find authoritative information on the rapidly growing e-drum market. Last year, digitalDrummer launched the first digitalDrummer E-drum Labs in conjunction with the UK and Europe Drum Shows. The Labs featured many of the world’s top drummers in a series of performances as well as hands-on experiences that highlighted the capability of electronic drums.
