Drumming News :
Atom Willard has announced that he has parted ways with Alkaline Trio. The drummer shared the news in a social media post on Monday (February 2), calling the decision deeply personal amid ongoing global turmoil.
“With everything going on, going wrong, in the world right now this may seem insignificant, but it’s not for me. I have parted ways with Alkaline Trio,” Willard wrote, adding that he is “very thankful for the experience.” He also noted that he is exploring new studio, collaboration, and touring opportunities.
Willard joined Alkaline Trio in 2023 following the exit of longtime drummer Derek Grant, who left the band after 22 years. While Willard did not perform on the band’s 2024 album Blood, Hair and Eyeballs, he became a key part of their touring lineup and appeared on recent tracks including “Oblivion,” “Bleeding Out,” and “Surprise Surprise,” produced by Travis Barker.
Before Alkaline Trio, Willard played with Against Me!, The Offspring, Angels & Airwaves, and Rocket From the Crypt. Alkaline Trio have yet to comment on his departure or announce a new drummer.
