Alright, the title is a bit tongue and cheek; once Cameron was diagnosed with Covid both Josh Klinghoffer and Richard Stuverud sat behind the throne to help Pearl Jam out in Thursday nights May 12th performance in Oakland California.
In an article for SPIN by Jeff Vrabel & Jonathan Cohen they report the following:
“Pearl Jam drummer Matt Cameron‘s positive COVID-19 diagnosis didn’t stop the band from soldiering on Thursday night (May 12) at the first of two shows at Oakland Arena, as touring member Josh Klinghoffer and longtime Jeff Ament collaborator Richard Stuverud filled in behind the kit throughout the set. It was Cameron’s first missed show since joining Pearl Jam 24 years ago this month.“

Both Josh and Richard have been highly praised for their fill-in with last night’s performance.
Richard Stuverud Jr.:
Richard is known for playing in several bands in the Seattle scene, his first was the punk rock band The Fastbacks. Through the mid-90s, Stuverud played in the bands Three Fish and Tres Mts., both side projects of Pearl Jam bassist, Jeff Ament. Pearl Jam’s 2011 box set, Vitalogy, includes the previously-unreleased demo version of “Nothingman” with Stuverud on drums.
he writes, arranges, and produces songs. He plays with the Oakland bands, REQ’D, Lefav and Slow Phase and collaborated with lyricist, Derek McCulloch on “Memories in Kodachrome” Stuverud’s debut solo record, released May 1, 2020.
Josh Klinghoffer:
Best known for being the guitarist for the rock band Red Hot Chili Peppers from 2009 to 2019, with whom he recorded two studio albums, I’m with You (2011) and The Getaway (2016), and the b-sides compilation, I’m Beside You (2013) and as of 2021 a touring member of Pearl Jam.
A multi-instrumentalist, Klinghoffer also fronts the alternative rock band Dot Hacker, a group made up of former touring members of Gnarls Barkley. He is also a former member of the bands Ataxia, Warpaint and The Bicycle Thief. Klinghoffer most commonly plays guitar or drums, and sings backup as well as lead vocals.
