Pearl is now accepting resumes for our 2022 summer internships. The selection process will take place in early April when candidate resumes will be reviewed by the marketing staff. The internships are in the Marketing and Sales departments and time is divided between the Combo, Marching, Concert, Pearl Percussion, Pearl Flutes and Adams Marching Brass product areas and with the Sales team. To be eligible, you must be earning credit through your college or university. It is strongly recommended that your area of study be related to marketing, public relations, graphic design, media arts or music business. While it is not required, some drumming experience is beneficial. Beginning and ending dates are flexible to accommodate class schedules. Please be aware that this is an unpaid internship, and all personal expenses will be your responsibility.
Here is a sampling of some of the projects Pearl interns are involved in:
GENERAL/ORIENTATION:
* Tour of facility and introduction to department heads and staff
* Learn WMS (Pearl’s inventory management system) and how to navigate the system.
* Gain a basic working knowledge of product flow: the warehouse, ordering and shipping.
* Job shadow other departments including Finance and Purchasing.
COMBO:
* Assist in the ongoing development of the Pearl’s Dealer Marketing Resource Site (www.Pearl-DMRC.com)
* Attend product photo shoots and video shoots (observe/participate)
* Update information for existing artists on Pearl’s web site (current tours, kit plots, artist news etc.)
* PASIC (Percussive Arts Society International Convention) show product prep
* Data base development and market research
* Assist in the writing and distribution of industry related press releases and content for social media networks
* Evaluate dealer websites for Pearl and competitor content
MARCHING PERCUSSION:
* Update master list of universities, their band directors, contact info, their NCAA division, and their brand of instruments
* Update WGI mailing list and conduct indoor marching market research
* Web Site – create artist organizations page and sponsored organizations page, add to current site
* Help coordinate DCI drum corps Adams and battery returns, check in, product examination, and assist with minor repairs
* Work with MP staff to cover DCI events (service drum corps/booth display and promotions).
* Assist in the preparation of trade show merchandise
CONCERT:
* Prep Adams and concert product for state and industry shows
* Coordinate mass mailing of concert product literature
* Data entry of mailing lists
* Contribute web content for artist related and industry related news
PEARL PERCUSSION:
* Assist in filling artist requests
* Assist in the preparation of trade show merchandise
* Assist in promo package prep for photography
* Scout the web for trends and news in the percussion industry
SALES DEPARTMENT:
* Participate in secret shopper program
* Evaluate dealer participation in Pearl marketing programs
* Assist with product build sheets for big box dealers like Musicians Friend and Amazon
