Latest Drum News

You now can own Eric Carr’s 1989 drum set last used in the “God Gave Rock N Roll 2 You 2”, it is currently up for auction on Ebay for a mere $35,000.00.

The seller’s description is below:

Ludwig 12-piece drum set made for and owned by drummer Eric Carr (the former member of the group known as KISS). Every kid growing up in the 1980’s probably said to themselves “I would like to have Eric Carr’s drum set”. Now is your chance to own Eric Carr’s personal Ludwig Classic Maple Black Cortex Ludwig drum set with Certificate Of Authenticity from the Eric Carr Estate.

While I was playing in a KISS tribute band in 2005, my dream came true when I bought this kit from Paul Orofino one of Eric’s closest friends and the one who recorded Eric’s audition demo tape for KISS. Paul told me Eric gifted him this drum set, Simmons pads and I believe his chrome Chikara set and Eric had it sent freight right after his video shoot for God Gave Rock N Roll 2 You 2, from Los Angeles to Paul’s recording studio in Milbrook, NY. Paul said he recorded albums by Blue Oyster Cult and other popular bands with some of the drums from this set. The Ludwig coliseum snare drum and stand in the pictures was not Eric’s but is period correct and included in the sale. Paul would not sell Eric’s snare drum. The (HITS) Hot In The Shade Tour custom made cannon bass drums are 24”x 32” and date stamped Dec. 1989, they also have the MAY internal mic system installed on both kick drums.

Looks like the wood hoops (rims) on the cannon bass drums and the original front resonate pinstripe heads that I received with the set were spray painted black at some point, not sure if it was by Eric or not but if you noticed his front heads were painted black on the HITS tour. The drums are in pretty good shape except one tom drum does have some inner ply lamination damage on the 6-ply maple shell. The rack toms are 10”,12”,13”,14”,15”& 16”, the floor toms are 16” and 18” and the two regular bass drums are both 24”. The heads are all made by Ludwig.

You will receive the 14”x8” Ludwig snare drum and snare stand plus Eric Carr’s 12- Ludwig drums, 4-bass drum tom holders and 6-floor tom legs along with the original Letter Of Authenticity signed by Paul Turino who was also Eric’s close friend and band mate before KISS. Eric Carr’s work in KISS is undeniably some of the best drumming in the band’s history and in rock n‘ roll. Just as Peter Criss inspired more kids than anyone to play drums in the 1970’s, Eric Carr unquestionably carried that torch throughout the 1980’s.
