This past March Aquiles Priester was voted the best Heavy Metal Drummer in Brazil, for the 19th time.

Aquiles is best known as the Brazilian drummer for the band Hangar that he founded in 1997, he is affiliated with many more acts starting with Almah (2007), Tony MacAlpine (2012–present), Vinnie Moore (2013), Primal Fear (2014–2015), WASP (2017–present), Edu Falaschi (2017–present), and DragonForce (2020).

In 1985 he attended the Rock in Rio festival where he decided to become a drummer. Although he began playing on cans, he would eventually assemble a set consisting of a snare, tom (which he borrowed from his school), bass drum, hi-hat, and a cymbal which he hung from his roof. He sites Nicko McBrain and Deen Castronovo as his biggest influences.

In addition to being an accomplished drummer Aquiles has released a number of instructional books and DVD’s that can be purchased on his website.
