Australian Drum Magazine DRUMscene Celibrates their 25th Year and 100th Issue – A Letter From The Editor

EDITOR’S LETTER – Issue 100

Some of you may be aware our 25th Anniversary special edition was due for release in April 2020. It was around this time COVID-19 hit the world in such a devastating way, and we all felt the timing wasn’t appropriate to celebrate the release of our huge special edition during a world pandemic! As a result, we decided to hold the April-June quarter print schedule with the hope that COVID would be under control by July! Unfortunately, this was not the case as COVID worsened during the following six months and we had no choice but to push the release date even further.

This was the first time in DRUMscene’s 25-year history we missed a print deadline!

…. MOVING FORWARD!

We are all very excited to finally release this 100th Issue, 25th Anniversary Special Edition!

It feels like it was only a few years ago that we published our first issue featuring Virgil Donati on the cover. Today, the magazine has become an Australian icon within the music publishing industry, and within the world drumming community.

Publishing 100 issues has produced over 9,000 pages filled with incredible interviews, special features, education, music Play-Along CDs, product reviews, new gear, artists news and giveaways – not to mention the many international Band and Clinic tours DRUMscene has presented throughout Australia. What a rewarding journey it has been so far!

To mark this 100th issue and milestone anniversary – This special edition is filled with so many brilliant interviews. Featuring some of the world’s most influential drummers and percussionists of our time! Including our massive 32-page Drumming Through Covid special feature.

Plus Alex Deegan has penned a comprehensive retrospective 16-page story on the evolution of DRUMscene over the past 25 years.

Along with these exclusive features, you will find other fantastic features including: Anika Nilles, Cindy Blackman Santana, Hossan Ramzy, PERCUSscene, Open Hand Playing, New Products 2021 and much more!

Enjoy the read, and until next time…keep jammin’.
