Paiste welcomes Sondre Veland to it’s family

Sondre Veland is a jazz-educated musician from the Grieg Academy in Bergen, Norway. He plays a large variety of styles, but will mainly call himself an experimental rock/pop/prog all kind of stuff-drummer.

Veland started to play the drums at the age of 9. Growing up on an Island in the middle of nowhere made the perfect spot for a young kid to evolve in the world of drums. Luckily for Veland, his father had a vintage Pearl Maxwin with some Paiste Rude cymbals in an old Caravan. One day his father sat up the drums in a wooden shed, showed Sondre a basic 4/4 funky drum beat, he then gave the sticks to Sondre, and well; his father never got the sticks or his drums back.

At the age of 14, he won a music award for his drumming. It was from that moment that he really knew that he was going all in with music and drumming. Since then, Sondre has been performing all over the world with different projects. His band Major Parkinson and their latest release «Blackbox» received and average of 93,8/100 on over 80 international reviews and it received more than fifteen top 10-best album placements internationally. Major Parkinson is currently working on their next album. His bands Dobbeltgjenger and Ossicles will release their exciting new third albums in spring 2021.

Veland is also an independent drummer, performing with bands such as Wardruna, Lindy-Fay Hella, Line Dybedal and many more.
