Drumming News :
Introducing what may be our most exciting release yet: the Buffalo Trace 250th Anniversary Snare by Noble & Cooley.
Created to celebrate the 250th Anniversary of the United States, this limited-edition collaboration brings together two iconic American makers: the oldest operating distillery and the oldest operating drum company in the country.
More than a commemorative instrument, this drum introduces an entirely new shell design to the market. Developed by Ricardo Parra, Noble & Cooley’s proprietary “stave-bent” shell combines vertical and horizontal grain structures within a single instrument. The upper and lower sections are crafted from authentic Buffalo Trace barrel staves, while the center section features a North American steam-bent maple shell.
Each construction method contributes distinct sonic qualities. The vertically oriented barrel staves provide projection, articulation, sensitivity, and immediacy, while the steam-bent maple center section adds warmth, body, sustain, and harmonic complexity. Rather than choosing one approach over the other, this design unites the strengths of both.

The result is a remarkably expressive snare drum with a crisp, articulate attack, exceptional sensitivity, and a rich, evolving voice. It delivers the projection and responsiveness of stave construction alongside the warmth and depth of a steam-bent shell. For players, it offers outstanding control and musicality. For producers, depth and tonal flexibility. For collectors, a truly limited instrument built from materials and a process that can never be replicated in exactly the same way.

About Buffalo Trace:
More than 200 years ago, buffalo carved a pathway followed by American pioneers. The trail led to the banks of the Kentucky, where a world-class distillery and a flagship bourbon was born. Buffalo Trace defines what a bourbon should be. Aged nearly twice as long as competitors – in new charred oak barrels – and bottled at 90 proof, it’s the perfect bourbon to be enjoyed in any way, anywhere.
