Noble & Cooley writes, We’re proud to introduce a new Special Edition snare drum that brings together legacy design and modern refinement.
Meet the Special Edition Solid Shell Ash snare in a Royal White Tiger finish.
This model features a rare lug design not seen on a new Noble & Cooley drum in decades— the same lugs originally created by Bob Gatzen for our Horizon and Star Series snares in the 1990s. And these are not recreations. For this release, we carefully restored vintage hardware from our archives, hand-refinishing each solid brass component, polishing it to a high shine, and sealing it in lacquer.
The Royal White Tiger finish highlights the natural depth of the ash grain using a cerusing technique, contrasting blackened grain with antique white in high-gloss.
Tonally, this drum is designed for clarity, balance, and expression. The tight-grain white ash shell delivers a resonant low-end, quick response, and wide dynamic range. A thicker maple reinforcement ring at the top edge adds focus and attack, while a smaller ash reinforcement ring on the bottom allows the shell to resonate more freely—enhancing snare sensitivity and overall responsiveness.
The result is a dynamic, articulate instrument with depth, character, and exceptional musicality.
This release is available now in 6×14 and 7×14 sizes, Limited-edition of 24 drums, each hand-numbered. All of the snares have been shipped to our dealers.
