The Toca Hannah Welton Signature Auxiliary Snare (THW-AS) is a striking fusion of funk, innovation, and royal heritage. Designed in collaboration with Hannah Welton—known for her work with Prince & 3rdeyegirl—this auxiliary snare redefines what a secondary drum can be. Rather than serving as a simple add-on, it stands as a fully realized instrument that blends the warmth of maple with the brilliance of concert-grade jingles.
At its core is a 5″ x 12″ 7-ply maple shell, delivering the punch, presence, and playability of a true drum set component. The 45° bearing edges and premium construction provide a crisp, responsive feel, while its compact depth makes it ideal for tight, “cranked” tones and cutting rim shots that slice through any mix.
What sets the THW-AS apart is its custom German Silver jingles, developed in partnership with Grover Pro Percussion. Arranged in a double-row, offset configuration, the jingles are designed for maximum resonance and sustain. A floating mount system allows the shell to vibrate freely, generating the kinetic energy needed to fully activate the jingles and produce a shimmering, expressive voice with every stroke.
Visually, the drum makes a statement with its iconic “Hot Purple” lacquer finish—a tribute to Welton’s time with Prince. A custom “Lioness” badge and matching purple head graphics reinforce its artistic identity and stage presence.
Outfitted with professional-grade components—including an Evans HD Dry batter head, Evans Hazy 300 resonant head, and Puresound P1420 20-strand snare wires—the THW-AS is performance-ready straight out of the box. Chrome hardware completes the sleek, modern aesthetic.
As Welton explains, the inspiration stemmed from her love of the original Toca Jingle Snare, but with the vision of creating something that looked and felt like a true drum set drum. The result is an instrument that delivers a signature sound—warm, punchy, and shimmering—while honoring the legacy and artistry that inspired it.
