SONOR Drums is proud to partner with Nashville-based drummer, composer, arranger, and bandleader Sofia Goodman. Performing in a variety of styles across Jazz, Funk, Blues, Pop, and Folk, Goodman has selected the SONOR SQ2 Series and Vintage Series drum sets as her instruments of choice.
Widely recognized as a compelling creative voice in modern Jazz, Goodman has earned international attention for her work as both a bandleader and composer, with praise from esteemed outlets including DownBeat, JAZZIZ, All About Jazz, and the Nashville Scene. Leading her own ensemble since 2017, Goodman has toured extensively throughout the U.S. and Canada, appearing at prominent venues and festivals while presenting her own original music across a range of ensemble formats.
She has released three albums on Joyous Records and, in 2024, The Sofia Goodman Group was honored with the Nashville Industry Music Award (NIMA) for Best Jazz Group. Goodman’s work has also been supported by the Pathways to Jazz Grant, the New Music USA Creator Fund Grant, and the CMA Performance Plus Grant, alongside multiple NIMA nominations. As a collaborator, Goodman has performed with a diverse roster of artists, including blues icon Bobby Rush, Latimore, The Music City Big Band, Altin Sencalar, Stephen Phillip Harvey, and world folk group HuDost.
In addition to her performance career, Goodman is an active educator and mentor, contributing to the continued growth of the Jazz community in Nashville and beyond. Her musicianship has earned praise from peers and critics alike, with GRAMMY Award–winning saxophonist Jeff Coffin (Dave Matthews Band, Bela Fleck) describing her as “the real deal.”
