Zildjian Reintroduces the Kerope Cymbal Series: A Reimagined Classic

Drumming News

Zildjian has unveiled the reimagined Kerope cymbal series, a revival of one of its most revered soundscapes. Forged by the same hands that introduced the Kerope decades ago, the new line remains rooted in tradition while pushing the boundaries of modern craftsmanship and sonic expression.

Inspired by the famed intermediate stamp Turkish K’s of the mid-20th century, the Kerope series is steeped in history. Its warm, dark tones and sonic complexity are the hallmarks that have long drawn discerning players to its unique voice. Zildjian’s meticulous attention to detail is evident throughout—from the hand-hammered shaping of the entire bow to the traditional pin lathing pattern that enhances both stick articulation and brush work.

Each cymbal features a unique waxing process that focuses and controls the sound, while Craigie Zildjian’s signature in the bell pays homage to the legacy she helped preserve. As Zildjian’s press release notes, “The stick attack speaks with clarity without being overwhelmed by the wash,” a crucial quality for expressive, nuanced playing.
