Modeled after the highly desired Jasper shell, the thick Maple & Gum combination is Nordic’s modern interpretation of these vintage style shells. The famed Jasper shell has been synonymous with vintage Rogers Drums and Gretsch Drums and has been played by the likes of Buddy Rich, Charlie Watts and many other legends for decades.
“We value continuing the legacy of yesterday’s drum shells by elevating the heirloom quality to meet today’s rigorous quality standards,” says Dave West, founder of Nordic. “We are excited to add another shell line to our Heritage Series with this thicker 6ply/6mm Maple/Gum formula. We’ve gotten tons of requests for this shell over the last several years and we anticipate a great response right out of the gate.”
Maple and Gumwood have been a perennial favorite in the drum industry for decades. Nordic’s Maple is sourced from Michigan and the Gumwood near Jasper, Indiana. Each ply is 1mm thick laid out in a classic long grain (L) and short grain (s) formula of Ls/Ls/sL, and expertly executed by the Nordic craftsmen.
In conjunction with the “Jasper style” shell, Nordic is also launching a new Round Over 30º bearing edge. When paired with the Jasper-style shell, it provides a truly classic sound.
The Heritage Series Maple/Gum will be available Friday, April 12th, 2024.
