Having been teaching myself cymbal making for around 10 years now, I’m changing things up a little and will be making a limited run of very special cymbals each month.

Each will be unique, drawing on my palette of techniques and ideas, and will represent the sum of my hard-earned knowledge to date, with different ingredients added in different quantities for each cymbal. A little experimentation thrown in to help me evolve, learn and produce new & exciting instruments.

The first 3 are up now: HERE

21¾”, 2354g – Small, unlathed hand-formed bell. Body lathed before hammering, and again after. Dark, dynamic, controlled, present. Check it out HERE.

22″, 2427g – Medium, tight hand-formed bell. Fully lathed top & bottom, heavily hammered for attack and a little aggression when needed. Check it out HERE.

21¾”, 2206g – Pointed hand-formed bell for tight highs and overall control. Very strong downhook in the body gives a zonal cymbal for plenty of character. Lots of hiss, very rich and complex. Check it out HERE.

About Cymbalsmith Dave Collingwood:

Dave Collingwood, a full-time cymbalsmith based in Bristol, UK, was born and raised in the city. His early years were dedicated to pursuing his musical passion, performing with various bands worldwide. At 31, he became a father and left the touring life.

Fascinated by handcrafting cymbals and inspired by the masters of the craft, Dave decided to dive into this world of creativity and practicality. Self-taught through trial and error, he overcame steep learning curves while balancing a challenging job and family life.

After being made redundant from his job, Dave embraced cymbal-making as a career opportunity. Today, he runs Collingwood Cymbals full-time and nurtures a global community of cymbalsmiths. Cymbal-making isn’t just a profession for him; it’s a profound passion and an ongoing journey of discovery.

Continuously seeking new techniques and knowledge, Dave now shares his expertise by teaching others to navigate the intricate world of cymbal craftsmanship.
