The Percussion Marketing Council (PMC)/PlayDrums.com Open House, held at the Anaheim Hilton on Friday, April 14, celebrated the many positive impacts of PlayDrums.com programs.

This year’s event, open to all members and percussion industry professionals, honored Joe Lamond, outgoing NAMM Executive Director and CEO, who led the music products industry’s global membership organization for more than 20 years. The PMC also celebrated seasoned instructor, clinician, and motivational speaker Dom Famularo, who has triumphed in his battle with cancer.

“This was a memorable night for all who attended. Dom Famularo, a global ambassador of drumming, shared how his playing and discipline as a drummer aided him with his recent health issues,” said PMC Executive Director Antoinette Follett. “We were also proud to have Joe Lamond join us. Joe gave up the professional drummer’s life to first work in retail at Skip’s Music in Sacramento, which led to a stint as director of market development for NAMM, where he eventually became Executive Director/CEO. Each of these individuals is a giant in the percussion industry in his own right. We were pleased to honor them in person.”

Each year the PlayDrums.com Open House gathering provides a space for those in the drum industry to become better acquainted with other drum industry colleagues, learn more about the PMC and its programs, and recognize the accomplishments of industry leaders. PMC’s annual initiatives include Experience Drumming! programs, as well as Drumming Connects Us for teens, the new Experience Bucket Drumming! program, and the Lesson with A Master promotional effort with music retailers to celebrate International Drum Month in May.

The Open House refreshments were sponsored this year by PMC member Yamaha Drums.
