This is exciting news to read from Rikki, it goes a long way to be an example of yet another successful cancer treatment success. On social media he posts:
“Almost 7 years cancer free thanks to the best Dr. in the world, Ezra Cohen. Today is a good day!!! Thanks to God and modern medicine!”
In June of 2015 Rikki visited his primary doctor with the complaint of a lingering sore throat, through several tests he was diagnosed with human papillomavirus (HPV)-related oral cancer. The tumor initially responded, but returned three months later, spreading to his lymph nodes.
Rikki was recommended to the specialist Dr. Ezra Cohen at UCSD Moores Cancer Center and was able to get on a trial for a new procedure. The trial was successful. New procedural trials are so important for the advancement of cancer treatment.
Below we have posted the video as Rikki tells his story at a UC San Diego Health education event on Aug. 20, 2016.
In this second video titled “Rikki Drumming Back Oral Cancer: Rikki Rockett’s Immunotherapy Story”, he gives an update a couple years after treatment. Rikki’s tumor responded immediately. Just over two months into the trial, a scan revealed that his tumor had shrunk over 90%. Today Rikki is cancer-free, enjoys playing with his band, Poison, caring for his two children, and practicing Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
This past year Rikki completed the “Stadium Tour” with MÖTLEY CRÜE, DEF LEPPARD, POISON and JOAN JETT & THE BLACKHEARTS. We love you Rikki, congratulations!
