Steve Broughton Of The Edgar Broughton Band Has Passed Away

Unfortunately, we missed Steve’s passing earlier this year, he died on May 29th but we still wanted to pay our respects.

Edgar Broughton Band drummer and multi-instrumentalist Steve Broughton died on Sunday 29th May 2022 aged 72. A statement from his brother Edgar Broughton read: “It is with great sadness that I announce the passing of my beloved brother, comrade and fellow traveler Steve Broughton, on Sunday 29th May. R.I.P.” No cause of death has been revealed.

Alongside Edgar and bassist Arthur Grant, Steve Broughton was a permanent member of the Edgar Broughton Band throughout their four spells of existence, and he contributed to all eight of their studio albums. He also played drums on Mike Oldfield’s seminal 1973 album ‘Tubular Bells.’

The Edgar Broughton Band formed as a blues-based trio featuring both Steve and Edgar and bass player Arthur Grant. The group moved to Notting Hill in London and was signed by Blackhill Enterprises.

It also looked after the fortunes of a fledgling Pink Floyd and Syd Barrett, Marc Bolan, Kevin Ayers, and Roy Harper, who organized the original Hyde Park concerts in the late 60s.

Brock Boeser also lost his parent. Heartbreaking news of Duke Boeser’s death at the age of 61 was shared on May 27, 2022. Father of Vancouver Canucks forward Brock, passed away after a long battle with cancer and dementia.
